Refrigerated vehicles sales decrease 14.7 YOY in Oct 2022 in China

Refrigerated vehicles are a niche segment of the special-purpose vehicles market. In recent years, with the support of some favorable national policies, new energy refrigerated vehicles developed rapidly, but the recent epidemic has had a certain impact on the sales.

According to the terminal registration information, 145 units new energy refrigerated vehicles was sold in October 2022, a decrease of 14.7% YOY from 170 units and a decrease of 44.7% MOM from 262 units. A total of 1,905 units refrigerated vehicles were sold from January to October 2022, an increase of 48.13% YOY.

Overall, the sales of new energy refrigerated vehicles fluctuated greatly from January to October this year, and the sales volume of each month was not large. The main reason is that it is limited by the cruising range of new energy vehicles. From January to October 2022, a total of 1,905 units refrigerated vehicles were sold, a year-on-year increase of 48.1%, which is mainly because of the low sales in last year and the support of “dual carbon” strategy.

New energy light truck refrigerated vehicles occupy the main part of the new energy refrigerated vehicle market; according to analysis, the main reason is that in the urban distribution market, light trucks are mainly responsible for refrigerated transportation tasks, and the new energy refrigerated vehicles in the urban distribution market are convenient to charge, and the operating cost is lower than that of oil trucks.

According to the terminal registration information, from January to October 2022, a total of more than 30 car companies participated in the sales of new energy refrigerated vehicles, but the sales volume was generally small. There are only 5 companies with cumulative sales exceeding 100 units. Among them, Guangxi has the most sales volume, and Foton Motor has the highest year-on-year increase.
