China’s new energy special purpose vehicles sales grow 64% YOY in Sep 2022

Under the continuous efforts of the "dual carbon" strategy, new energy special vehicles have been advancing rapidly since the first three quarters of this year. According to the latest terminal licensing information, sales of new energy special vehicles in September 2022 was 26,000 units, a month-on-month decrease of 2% while a year-on-year increase of 64%, hitting a new high in the same period in recent years; the cumulative sales of new energy special vehicles from January to September in 2022 reached 176,000 units, and the cumulative sales also reached a new high in the same period in recent years, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 75%

According to the analysis, the year-on-year growth in September this year was mainly due to the intensive introduction of favorable policies to support the development of new energy logistics vehicles in various places, and the high growth rate of new energy heavy trucks, especially battery replacement heavy trucks.

According to the terminal licensing information provided by the China Automobile Dealers Association, the sales volume of new energy special-purpose vehicles in September and January-September in the past five years and the year-on-year ratio:

No matter in September or from January to September, this year's sales of new energy special-purpose vehicles have hit a new high in the same period in the past five years. The main reason is that the policy empowerment at the national level and various regions, the continuous development of the dual-carbon strategy, the improvement of charging facilities in various regions and the high petroleum price.

In the new energy special vehicle market in the first three quarters of 2022, new energy logistics vehicles accounted for nearly 80% (76.1%), occupying the absolute main body of the market, with a year-on-year increase of 72.3%.
