Top Ten Sales in Heavy-duty Truck Sales in January 2020

China's monthly sales of trucks in January hit a fresh record of 292.5 thousand units, down 7 percent year on year, data from an auto industry data provider showed. In January, around 116.6 thousand heavy-duty trucks were sold in China, with a year-on-year increase of 18 percent.
As shown in the graphic above, China's top four truck makers saw their sales exceed 10 thousand units as of the end of January. Of the top ten truck makers, Jiefang, Dongfeng, SINOTRUK, SHACMAN and Foton, the five Chinese brands together account for almost 87.52% of the national market share. FAW Jiefang ranked first overall, with nearly 45.04% market share, maintaining steady growth despite a weaker market. Sales represented an increase of 57 percent year-on-year over that of 2018, up from 34.2 thousand units to 52.5 thousand units in January 2020.
Among the top ten truck makers, Foton Motor reported the biggest growth in the sales of heavy trucks, with a year-on-year increase of 61 percent. FAW Jiefang (up 57percent) takes second place followed by Dongfeng with an increase of 28 percent. The other truck maker that also achieves growth is XCMG, which reported an increase of 11 percent.
