This New Energy Compression Garbage Truck is Smart and Beneficial to the People

Recently, a "multifunctional" sanitation vehicle appeared in Songjiang District, Shanghai. Different from previous models, this sanitation vehicle integrates a garbage truck with a "bus". It not only subverts the shape of traditional sanitation vehicles, but also greatly improves its technological performance.

The vehicle's passenger compartment adopts a two-step approach to enter the vehicle, which is convenient for the driver, passengers and assistants to get on and off the vehicle. It is easier to enter and exit than previous truck types, and the side sliding door design also facilitates the door opening and closing operations.

It is reported that the vehicle is a Skyworth pure electric compression garbage truck from Skywell Automobile. The main application scenario is to collect garbage at scattered points such as residential areas and roadsides. The front end collects garbage, compresses it and then transports it to the transfer station.

The dimensions of the vehicle are 6170mm long, 2180mm wide and 2460mm high. The newly developed sanitation vehicle chassis reserves sufficient space for the upper installation. The effective volume of the filler is 480L, the volume of the sewage tank is 150L (filler) + 235L (carriage), and the effective volume of the garbage tank is 6.2 cubic meters.

The vehicle is equipped with CATL's 106.95kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, with a range of 280km and a maximum speed of 100km/h. It effectively guarantees the high-intensity and long-term operation requirements of garbage trucks.

The interior of the passenger compartment is spacious and equipped with a highly integrated instrument panel, which integrates vehicle switches, air conditioning control, upper installation operations, smart sanitation and other functions. It is equipped with ergonomic airbag seats and overhead air conditioning, which improves the driving experience while improving safety during driving.

Compared with traditional sanitation vehicles, new energy sanitation vehicles have many advantages in operation. First, electricity is used as a power source to solve the problem of exhaust emissions from fuel-powered vehicles, reduce air pollution, and improve energy conservation and emission reduction levels. Second, the operation is simpler and more intelligent, which effectively reduces the labor intensity of drivers. Third, the cleaning process reduces noise disturbance.

According to statistics, there were 95 complaints of noise disturbance in Songjiang District in the first half of 2021 and 34 in the first half of 2024, a year-on-year decrease of 64%. New energy sanitation vehicles effectively reduce the impact on residents during cleaning operations and improve residents' inherent impression of "noisy" sanitation vehicles.

At present, Songjiang District has used a total of 90 new energy sanitation vehicles. In the future, it will continue to effectively promote the deployment of new energy sanitation vehicles.
