WeRide S1 Driverless Road Sweeper Debuts in Shantou, Guangdong

Recently, WeRide and Guangdong Huadalong Urban Management Service Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Huadalong") jointly promoted the commercialization of WeRide's driverless road sweeper in Shantou, Guangdong. This is the first L4 level public road unmanned sanitation commercial project in Shantou City, and it is also the debut of WeRide's driverless road sweeper S1 (hereinafter referred to as "WeRide road sweeper S1") in Shantou and even in the eastern Guangdong region.

WeRide S1 road sweeper debuts at Shantou Chaoren Wharf
WeRide S1 road sweeper began safety testing at Shantou Chaoren Wharf Square in June this year. After the trial operation, it will perform routine unmanned sanitation operations covering day and night in the entire Haibin Road area. Chaoren Wharf is located in the western section of Haibin Road, connecting the historical and cultural axis of the old city, and is a popular landmark that showcases the characteristics of Shantou Port.
WeRide S1 road sweeper was released in April this year. It is the world's first L4 level unmanned sanitation equipment for open roads and can cover all scenarios. It has 360-degree no-dead-angle perception and operation capabilities, is suitable for all kinds of hard surfaces, and can penetrate into squares, auxiliary roads, sidewalks and other road environments. The single-charge operation area exceeds 120,000 square meters.

WeRide S1 road sweeper was unveiled at Chaoren Wharf in Shantou City, achieving human-machine collaboration with traditional sanitation, and attracted the attention of many official media. Among them, in the report of Shantou Daily, sanitation worker Cheng Longchao told reporters: "This car is not afraid of high temperature or cold, which improves the quality of sanitation work, reduces the intensity of cleaning work, and reduces the burden of our sanitation workers." Chaoren Wharf is a coastal area and often faces severe weather such as high temperature and strong wind. WeRide S1 road sweeper is not afraid of extreme environments. It can automatically wake up, carry out patrol cleaning according to the established route, and complete the automatic dumping of garbage, becoming a powerful assistant for outdoor sanitation workers.

During the trial run, the project partner Huadalong also praised the cleaning effect of the Weyuan Sweeper S1. Project manager Li Jian mentioned in an interview with a reporter from Shantou Daily: "This self-driving sanitation vehicle has a very good trial effect." He said that in the future, he would consider further deploying unmanned sanitation equipment to larger sections of roads such as Haibin Road, Jinhuan Road, and Yuejin Road, to contribute to improving the quality and efficiency of Shantou's sanitation work.
