WeRide's self-driving freight truck launches public road test!

On May 22, 2024, WeRide, the world's leading autonomous driving technology company, obtained the remote test (unmanned) license and cargo test license issued by Guangzhou City. Its autonomous freight truck Robovan (hereinafter referred to as "WeRide Truck" ") was approved to carry out "pure unmanned testing" and "cargo loading testing" of self-driving urban freight trucks in Guangzhou. The testing scope covers 6 administrative districts including Baiyun District, Huadu District, Panyu District, Huangpu District, Nansha District and Haizhu District. There are a total of 797 test roads in Nansha and Nansha, with a two-way mileage of 3,247 kilometers.
This is China's first license for purely unmanned remote testing of L4 autonomous freight vehicles in an urban open road scenario. It is also China's first autonomous freight vehicle loading test event that supports 7X24 full-time testing, further paving the way for WeRide Zhixing to move towards autonomous driving. It provides strong support for the commercial operation of intra-city freight.

The WeRide freight truck is China's first L4 self-driving freight truck. Wenyuan freight truck performs cargo testing mission
At present, WeRide has cooperated with a number of well-known Chinese logistics companies to launch a pilot commercial operation of autonomous driving urban freight in Guangzhou International Bio-Island. During the pilot period, it transported more than 50,000 pieces of goods every day.
Prior to this, WeRide has launched the commercial operation of Robotaxi self-driving taxis and Robosweeper self-driving sanitation vehicles in Guangzhou. On December 30, 2023, WeRide and Guangzhou Bus Group launched the country's first self-driving minibus commercial toll operation service. Now that it has been approved to carry out purely unmanned remote testing and cargo loading tests of the autonomous urban freight vehicle Robovan, WeRide's business potential in smart freight scenarios has also been effectively unleashed.
