Cainiao Largest Logistics eHub in Europe Settled

November 12, 2021, Liege, Belgium, On November 8 local time, Cainiao officially put eWTP Hub in Liege, Belgium into use, the largest intelligent logistics hub in Europe. The logistics infrastructure project will further serve two-way cross-border trade between China and Europe.
Cainiao Liege, Belgium eWTP Hub (eHub for short) is an important project based on the eWTP (World Electronic Trade Platform) cooperation framework. Located in Liege Airport, the project is expected to cover about 220,000 square meters, of which nearly 120,000 square meters are warehouses. The project is independently operated by Cainiao, with over 30,000 square meters put into use in the first phase, including the air cargo station and distribution center, and it took more than one year to complete the construction.
In the first seven months of this year, China’s total imports and exports value to the EU reached 2.96 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 26.7%, accounting for 13.9% of total foreign trade. Among them, the import and export amounts were 1.17 trillion and 1.79 trillion respectively. And cross-border e-commerce has become a new engine for the growth of Sino-European trade.
The hub is also equipped with Cainiao’s latest digital logistics technology and equipment, such as the independently designed and developed lightweight handheld terminal LEMO PDA, precise radio frequency identification technology (RFID), digital customs clearance system, etc., to further enhance the digital intelligence capabilities of cross-border logistics.
In addition to the Liege hub, Cainiao has also built eHubs in Hong Kong, Malaysia and other countries and regions.
