Dongfeng Heavy Truck Sells 113,000 Units, Increasing 6% from Jan.—Aug.

www.chinaspv.com: According to Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd operational report, from Jan. to Aug. its total vehicle sales (including truck and bus) are almost 120,000 units increasing 3.5% compared with the same period of 2012. Medium and heavy truck sales are over 113,000 units increasing 6% year on year which ranks the top within the industry.

In August, medium and heavy truck sales are almost 9,000 units which is an increase of 2%. Sales of heavy and medium truck are respectively 6,000 units and 3,000 units, decreasing 1% and increasing 18%. The accumulative sales of the first eight months of heavy and medium trucks are 80,000 units and 33,000 units, which increases 5% and 7% respectively year on year.

In the second half of 2013, no obvious change would take place in macro environment. The estimated annual GDP increase is 7.6% which cannot depend on increasing truck demanding only by investment. Meanwhile, domestic auxiliary facilities are not in place and implementation of National IV is merely gradual boosting in regions. All of these factors mentioned above go against the process into overall layout of National IV market.

Facing such severe market, Dongfeng will take the following measures to ensure the planned annual goal achieved:

Lean operation. In manufacturing, lean concept should be carried out completely by reasonable production arrangement, efficient working, and lowered manufacturing cost. Thus, each CPU could keep the same with the first half year. Simultaneously, excess capacity would be avoided.

National IV. To deal with challenges of National IV, Dongfeng would accelerate R&D process of new products. National IV products would be introduced in order with aftertreatment system and lowered purchasing vehicle cost well done.

Product and technology. As for product and technology, node management of products would be enhanced on condition that the quality would be ensured. Furthermore, product yields should be improved.

Improved quality. Quality improvement should be continued to be developed by improving QCD level. Therefore, customer satisfaction could be improved.
