www.chinaspv.com: Since the increasing demanding for energy conservation and emission reduction, how to control CO2 emission becomes a big topic of automobile manufacturers. Thus, does internal combustion engine has a huge market? On the 2nd China Auto Turbo Charger Application Technological Forum, Fu Wei, platform manager of Honeywell China, stated his opinion.
Fu Wei held the idea that at present ACE internal combustion engine is still of great advantage although auto internal combustion engine is getting threatened by hybrid drive and new energy. As for internal combustion engine, to reduce CO2 emission means to invest for new technology which would be 35%--95% of the whole R & D.
However, the invest percentage would be much more for electrical vehicles. The whole power should take up 36%--60% of R & D, and all the related energy or power generation industry also needs more investment especially electrical vehicle with 90% of R &D. Therefore, internal combustion engine is a low-cost development way for technical R & D of CO2 emission.
The data shows that auto supercharger penetration in 2013 is 32% which is 29 million units. And this number will be about 40% in 2020 and 70% in 2025 throughout the world. The industry will be of 2 million USD which in Fu Wei’s opinion is of good market.
